Microsoft’s Surface Book 2 has been announced, and Microsoft is once more aiming for Apple’s customers. Just like the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro target the MacBook Air and MacBook, the Surface Book 2 is taking aim at the MacBook Pro. Microsoft says the Surface Book 2 is two times more powerful than the MacBook Pro, with 35% more pixels and 70% more battery life than Apple’s notebook, an interesting claim.
Power and longevity aside, it is also true that Microsoft’s Surface Book 2 is more versatile than the Apple Mac, with support for touch input and native accessories like the Surface Dial and Surface Pen. It still retains its 2 in one nature and can serve as a clipboard like a tablet for a brief period of time. Somehow, I suspect that the versatility would be a better selling point than a straight up spec battle for the most part.

This, and seeing all the progress Microsoft was making with the Linux subsystem, as well as Apple’s lack of any meaningful progress, made me decide to make the jump back. I’m not a hater, I’m just tired of not being able to get a machine worth using. “Those complaining about Apple’s current Mac lineup are not haters, they’re lovers.
